Puebla has a wide variety of hotel choices to choose from. Before choosing a hotel, you must decide if you would rather stay in the downtown area where everything is in walking distance but the city noise might interrupt a good night's sleep, or if you would like to stay in a business class hotel that is closer to the mall and shopping centers.  If you are a tourist from another country whose time is limited in Mexico to a few weeks, then staying downtown is probably the best choice for you.  If you live in another city in Mexico that does not have a mall or nice shopping center, then you will most definitely want to stay in a business class hotel.

Our number one top recommendation for a business class hotel in Puebla is the Villa Florida located in the Angelopolis area of Puebla.  We have stayed there various times as well as have placed our family, friends, and business associates there.  Three benefits of the Villa Florida are the price, the location, and the service.  First, the price.  For off season, the price is only about $70.  Hotels in Mexico are not the same as hotels in the states.  When traveling through the states we very rarely pay $70 for a hotel.  In Mexico, $60 to $70 is the average for a nice hotel.  There are of course less expensive hotels but if you are looking for a hotel that has the same level of service and quality as hotels in the states, then you will have to pay a little more.  Some things we take for granted such as hot water, clean sheets and air conditioning, are not always found in the lesser expensive hotels. 

Second the location.  The Villa Florida is located just minutes away from Puebla's only mall and minutes away from two other new shopping centers.  Within walking distance... literally just in front of the hotel, is Starbucks, Subway, and a convenience store called Oxxo.  In the same shopping area there are several banks to exchange money as well as American Express travel services where you can get more Traveler's Checks if needed.  There is also a pharmacy for that unexpected emergency.  Taxis are parked in front of the hotel so they can take you to the mall or other shopping centers for about $3.  A trip downtown might run $5 to $7 each way.  As it is more a business area, there are not a lot of cars or people walking or driving by all night to disturb a good night's sleep.  Third the service... or actually the services the hotel offers.  First there is a full service restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  With a wide variety of menu options, you can be sure to find something you like.  Second and our favorite, there is an indoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi as well as a weight room and a tanning deck.  The pool is clean and well maintained and even has a separate wading area section for children.  The children's area is connected to the adult pool but divided by a cement wall that most young children are not able to get over.  As the pool is indoors and heated, you can enjoy it no matter what the weather is.  The ceiling of the pool area is glass windows which make it a very interesting sight to see when it is pouring rain outside, and you are swimming!  The pool is also located on the second floor and offers a panoramic view of the city including some of the four volcanoes that surround Puebla.  Third, the hotel offers a business services area with internet access, fax, and other services.  Onsight laundry facilities mean you can either wash your own clothes or you can also have them sent out to be dry cleaned.  In room coffe makers, ironing boards, and hair dryers mean your stay will be as comfortable as home.  And of course, if you just want to relax, there are a wide selection of tv channels in English as well as Spanish.
